     I realize I said that the next entry on this psalm was going to be about the imagery of the psalm, but I have decided to postpone that entry until after we return from NJ.  Instead, I will take a closer look at the short, striking prayer of David in verses 9-10, where David prays:

“What profit is there in my death,

 if I go down to the Pit?

Will the dust praise you?

Will it tell of your faithfulness?

Hear, O LORD, and be gracious to me!

Communion Prayer

After partaking of the Lord’s Table I often find myself saying this prayer- or something similar:

“My Lord and Savior and Provider, thank you for feeding me at your table.  Truly, make this bread and wine a means of grace.  And as this bread and wine enter into my body and move through my whole being, so press out sin from my life and make me able and willing, more and more, to live wholly unto you.  And do this not only for myself, but for all those who partake as your body and bride, that she may be strengthened for the work you have given to her, that your kingdom may come more and more on this earth as it is in heaven.  Amen.”
